"The primary technique that I use to bead on my paintings is called flat-stitch or overlay-stitch. It is one of three switches that are commonly used for traditional Apsaalooke beadwork and is great for creating single rows of beads, or curved lines. It involves using two threaded needles: one to string the beads together, and a second to tack them down to the surface (usually leather or trade cloth, but in the case of my paintings, paper or canvas).
