Fall Percussion Concert Description:
The University of Montana Percussion Ensemble and “Islanders” Steel Drum Band will present their Fall Percussion Concert at 7:30pm on Friday November 22, 2024 in the Dennison Theater.

The concert will feature a variety of great music for percussion including Dave Hall’s haunting piece Doors for percussion orchestra along with two concertos: SoniChroma for two percussionists and percussion ensemble featuring Dylan Vandeberg and Danger Gersh as well as Concerto for Marimba and Percussion Ensemble by Ney Rosauro featuring Abi Tyler on marimba. In addition, two graduate percussion majors, Delaney Wirtala and Mary Brown, will be featured on Alborada del Gracioso by Maurice Ravel played on two marimbas.

The second half will feature the Caribbean sounds of the UM Islanders Steel Band playing the upbeat soca tune, Bee’s Melody by “Lord Kitchener;” a laid back reggae, Take A Break Today by “Boogsie” Sharp; a fun, upbeat “ska” tune, Motor Scooter Monty by Gary Gibson as well as tunes from A Charlie Brown Christmas to close out the concert.
