Murals 4 Missoula 2022 Description:
Allez! Missoula is excited to present their second annual show for nonprofits, Murals for Missoula, this July! This year will feature four Missoula Nonprofits, each having chosen individual artists and/or collaborative projects to represent their organizations. The Murals for Missoula exhibit will have an opening reception Friday, July 8th, 2022, 5pm-7pm, and will remain on display until the first week of October. Allez! is located in the alleyway at 120 N. Higgins, Missoula, MT.
Every July, Allez supports non-profits through the mural arts. This exhibit is dedicated to creating an opportunity to boost Missoula nonprofits with a unique avenue of outreach and fundraising efforts. The nonprofits featured in this show are the Jeannette Rankin Foundation, Opportunity Resources, Summit Independent Living, and the Zootown Arts Community Center. All of these Missoula nonprofits work to create and foster growth in the community and are using painting, photography, and mosaic art forms to educate and illustrate their missions for and strengthen our community.
Some of these nonprofits have chosen individual artists to represent them while others have worked from their internal community to create a collaborative work. The Jeanette Rankin Foundation has represented their mission with acrylic paintings by local artist’s Gigi Don Diego and Stella Nall, both using imagery as a nod to the historical figure, Jeannette Rankin. Opportunity Resources chose to exhibit enlarged, reprinted acrylic paintings from one of their classes by multiple artists, as well as another artwork by local artist, Chris Olson, all using vivid bright colors. Summit Independent Living chose to invite their all-abilities improv community, BASE collective, to perform and document through photography to invite viewers to explore disability culture from the inside. And the Zootown Arts Community Center (ZACC) has created a mosaic by over 100 community members of all ages and artistic abilities. The clay tiles represent their love for art, community, and the ZACC. The project was spearheaded by artist and ZACC educator, Krissy Ramirez and the ZACCs Director of Operations, Heather Stockton.
Allez! is a revolving outdoor urban art gallery which activates the alleyway of the beautiful new 120 N Higgins Avenue building in the Original Townsite of Missoula. We engage, promote and sponsor a wide variety of artists and artistic visions, and we provide a custom display system on a lighted alley wall for showcasing quality artworks that represent our region. We strive for ways to create a tangible, stable economy for artists by partnering with other community organizations, nonprofits, schools and businesses to promote sponsored public events. For additional information please contact Program Director Lillian Nelson at lillian.allezmissoula@gmail.com.
