Our July exhibition features the work of current resident artist Sara Catapano. Sara’s biomorphic ceramic sculpture combines aspects of flora and fauna to create bizarre forms that seem both familiar and alien. She is attracted to dichotomies when designing her pieces, “juxtaposing fleshy plump, rippled skin against skeletal tendrils that combine and challenge reality with sci-fi in each piece.”

Sara was born in St. Louis, Missouri. She attended UNC - Wilmington for two years before transferring to UNC - Charlotte where she graduated with a BFA in Fine Art, Ceramics in 2012. She received her MFA in Ceramics from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania in 2018. Before starting her long-term residency at The Clay Studio of Missoula in Fall 2020, Sara was a resident at Studio 740 in Helena, Montana.
