'Dustin Drennen is a nuanced guy, an Army veteran living in rural Montana, a self-described: “red-bearded writer, singer of songs, rural mongrel, father of more’n a few”. He writes songs and poems that capture personal experience, literary scenes, poetic visions, and campfire tales. His music nods to purer country, touches Americana, drifts in and out of folk, stumbles around the blues, and smacks of a little rock & roll. The lyrics are lyrics of a poet, perhaps more rhythmically-conscious versions of what you might read in his book, The Making of a Key. When he’s not writing and playing, he works on industrial equipment, or roasts coffee for the brand he started with his wife -Scotchman’s Coffee.'
