Sidewalk Signing with Chet Rogenski Description:
About the Author: Husband, father, and grandfather, retired engineer, educator, and first-time author of the memoir, "The Longest Staircase: An Alzheimer's Journey". The author has been his wife’s primary caregiver throughout her long illness. His knowledge of caregiving is attributed to the experiences of Pam’s doctors, caregivers, hospice nurses, and friends. The author’s training as an engineer gives him an inherent ability to problem-solve and plan for the unexpected. Throughout his professional background, his focus was on continuous improvement. This has carried over into his private life, specifically in his devoted and loving care for his wife. The author’s deep faith has been a major part of his ability to endure. The author gives us deep insights in preparation for each stage of the illness, even while being thrown curve balls. What unfolds is a journey of trial and error, struggles, pain and sorrow, yet moments of sheer joy.

About the Book: CINCINNATI, OH — Cincinnati Book Publishing is proud to announce the release of The Longest Staircase: An Alzheimer’s Journey by Chet Rogenski, a powerful new title that sheds light on the deeply personal, emotional, and medical realities of living with and caring for someone with Alzheimer’s disease. This essential work arrives at a critical moment. According to the Alzheimer’s Association:
• An estimated 6.7 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s.
• About 1 in 9 people aged 65 and older are affected.
• Nearly half of those over 65 will experience dementia-related symptoms.
• Women make up two-thirds of those living with the disease.
• Alzheimer’s-related deaths have surged 145% between 2000 and 2019.
• 1 in 3 seniors dies with Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia.
As our population ages, Alzheimer’s has become one of the most urgent public health issues of our time. The Longest Staircase offers a rare blend of personal narrative and clinical insight, making it an indispensable guide for families, caregivers, and healthcare professionals seeking to understand the complex emotional landscape of dementia care. This book is more than a memoir—it’s a mirror for countless families walking a similar path. It emphasizes the humanity behind the diagnosis and provides thoughtful guidance for those supporting loved ones through one of life’s most difficult journeys.
