Wind Band concert
7:00 PM (America/Denver)
Bonner Park Band Shell
Description:
The Missoula Community Concert Band will present the first open-air band concert of the season at the Bonner Park Band Shell in Missoula on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. Under the direction of Dr. Benedict Kirby, the band will perform music from countries and peoples around the world, including Ukraine, the United States, England, Australia, Korea, Mexico (with Cuban and African influences), and the Romani diaspora. The concert is free to the public.

The concert will feature a special wind band arrangement of the Ukrainian national anthem by Dr. Kirby, and Montanan Jethro Thorne will perform Pantomime, a bravura piece for euphonium and wind band by the English composer Philip Sparke.

Speaking of the concert’s theme, band member Tom Trigg said, “For two years, we haven’t visited the world because of the pandemic, so we decided to bring the world here. Music turns out to be completely immune to viruses, and it can travel anywhere. We hope Missoulians will join us in Bonner Park on June 1 for an evening of great wind band music from all over the place!”
